Pink Razors' Scene Suicide CDep came in today and this thing turned out awesome! Eight tracks of super infectious pop-punk (emphasis on "punk") under the 13-minute mark. This first press is limited to just 1000 thousand copies as a way to quickly raise funds for the band to properly record their upcoming CD/LP that we'll be releasing later this year, so get on top of this joint! A tight little Media Player has been made featuring two choice tracks from the EP, and/or they can also be heard through hxcmp3.com and the band's myspace.com page. Scene Suicide arrived just in time, as the band has a slew of awesome shows coming up with Strike Anywhere, Municipal Waste (who is touring in March), Avail, Lucero, Paint It Black, New Mexican Disaster Squad, etc. Be sure to check out the tour dates section as the band's hitting the road in March with Josh Small, and bringing Robotic Empire along for the ride!
from 01/10/05:

Robotic Empire is stoked to announce an excellent new addition to the label roster: Richmond, VA's premium pop-punk purveyors Pink Razors will find a new home on Robotic Empire in early February with the re-release of their "demo" recording Scene Suicide. Originally issued as a limited cassette-only release, the material has been combined with a bonus acoustic track, all remastered by Scott Hull, artwork juiced up, and will be issued as a CDep just in time for the band's RVA show with Strike Anywhere on February 3rd. Stores and distros will have access to this beast of an EP come April 26th through Lumberjack, but we should have it for sale as soon as they come in! (This same material, with a different bonus track, will also be available from Dead Tank as a split 10" with Environmental Youth Crunch) This pairing may seem a bit strange as Robotic Empire isn't exactly known for infectious pop-punk releases, but we wouldn't be doing this if they weren't seriously BAD ASS. The band smokes live, can drink you under the table and will have you both pogoing & singing along the first (and hundredth) time you hear their songs. The Scene Suicide CDep will be limited to a first press of 1000 copies as a way to raise funds for the band's upcoming CD/LP full-length debut, and they'll be hitting the road in March with the almighty Josh Small. Dates and info can be found here and two remastered MP3s can be downloaded through hxcmp3.com or myspace.com.
On an unrelated but still awesome note, everyone is advised to check out a crucial new DC-area band called Haram. They consist of dudes from the formerly aggressive-as-hell bands Majority Rule, pg.99 and Corn on Macabre, playing some righteous and progressive post-hardcore kind of rock. That's a god awful way of putting it all, but this band is definitely worth checking out. They have posted the first track from their new demo online at hxcmp3.com and we've got their first live dates (with Malady, Envy, High On Fire, Kylesa and more) posted in our tour section. Their demo will be available from both the band and Robotic Empire very soon, so keep an eye on our online store for that in the near future!
from 12/17/04:
Robotic Empire has an early holiday present for you this year: we just put up a preview MP3 from Miami, FL's new powerhouse TORCHE. "Mentor" will be found on their debut CD/LP come April 19th, 2005 but we wanted to hook up fans of the band and label for their incredible support this year, so this is our way of saying "thank you!" This is an unmastered version of the tune, so prepare to be blown away in the spring with the album drops and the band hits the road.

Also, be on the lookout for both Torche and Circle Takes The Square in the next issue of Alternative Press! February's 100 Bands You Need To Know in 2005 issue features writeups on both bands, so you know we're stoked. Both the Cursive 10" as well as the limited hand-screened-cover version of the House of Low Culture 2x7" will be available from us sometime next week, so keep your eyes on the site.
from 12/05/04:
To say the very least, the response for Isis' Panopticon 2x12" and Oceanic Remix Vol. IV 12" has been absolutely incredible, as we flew through all of our colored vinyl copies of the double-LP in less than 12 hours! Isis fans are more like fanatics and we love you all for it. A huge thank you is (over)due to everyone who ordered for being so patient with these releases as we know the delays were frustrating. We do still have some copies of the final remix 12" available in our online store, but right now we are completely out of stock of the Panopticon 2x12". We'll have more copies available in early January (roughly the 4th) when this behemoth of an album hits the stores.
Cursive's The Recluse / Art Is Hard Singles 10" picture disc should be arriving at our doors within just a week or so and we'll make an announcement here and via our mailing list as soon as we have them. Very excited about this one! Hopefully at the same time we will have the limited edition version of House of Low Culture's Gettin' Sentimental 2x7" available as well. With high-quality silk-screened hand-numbered covers courtesy of Matt Michel at Creative Panic, you know these things are going to look awesome. Thanks again for everyone's support. This has been an incredible year and 2005 will be no different with amazing new releases from Torche, Red Sparowes, Mannequin, pg.99 (yes, the DVD!) and some all new bands as well... |
